Pendleton, OR – The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) and Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center were recognized by Senator Merkley for their work on the Cmuytpama Warming Station during his town hall at the Pendleton Convention Center on Friday, February 21st. Cmuytpama means place of warming and has served the CTUIR community this winter when the temperature dipped below 35 degrees. The space offers overnight shelter, between 6:00 pm and 9:00 am, for both men and women, showers, a kitchen, and a common area with television and board games. The shelter was also used to house displaced residence during the recent flooding.
